Anesthesiologists are specialists responsible for perioperative management for surgical and medical procedures which include preoperative assessment and optimisation, intraoperative administering of anaesthesia and monitoring of vital signs and organ function, intraoperative and postoperative pain management, emergency resuscitation and airway management during critical events.  

In the Critical Care area, anaesthesiologists are responsible in stabilising critically ill patients with continuous monitoring of vital signs and organ support, rapid decision making in dynamic and high risk situations, coordinating multidisciplinary care for complex surgical and medical patients.
